Evaristo Rojas Mayoral
Evaristo Rojas Mayoral is a mathematician and oceanologist who graduated from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC). He earned a Master of Science in Physical Oceanography from the Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada (CICESE) in 2009. Throughout his career, he has applied his expertise in mathematics and oceanography to advancing biodiversity conservation and restoration efforts.

From 2010 to 2014, Evaristo worked as a professor at UABC's Faculty of Marine Sciences, teaching mathematics and physics. Simultaneously, he advised research centers and environmental consultancies specializing in oceanographic data analysis and coastal process modeling.

Since 2014, Evaristo has been Director of Data Science at the Grupo de Ecología y Conservación de Islas (GECI). He leads a team developing innovative data science applications to support the conservation of Mexican island ecosystems. His work emphasizes quantitative analysis and data-driven approaches to ecological restoration project management.

As part of his PhD research, advised by Dr. Luis Malpica Cruz, Evaristo investigates the interactions between seabirds and commercial fishing activities in the Mexican Pacific. His research integrates data science with a social perspective to address environmental challenges and contribute to biodiversity conservation.

In his personal life, Evaristo is an avid runner. He runs approximately 30 km weekly and enjoys participating in foot races with his family, with a particular fondness for half marathons.
