José Alberto Troncoso Terrazas
I am an Oceanologist, graduated from the Faculty of Marine Sciences at UABC, and I am currently enrolled in the graduate program of Ecosystem Management of Arid Zones. Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by everything related to animals and the diverse ecosystems that make up our planet. Among them, the ocean has always captivated my passion, which is why I decided to study Oceanology.

During my studies, I became interested in the management of natural resources after taking a course on the sustainable use of marine resources. Following that, I decided to pursue a specialization in Environmental Management at UABC to learn more about these topics and continue to postgraduate studies. During this time, I conducted a thesis focused on reviewing the contributions of marine ecotourism to the sustainability of coastal communities.

For my master's degree, I am working with Dr. Luis Malpica and Dr. José Zepeda on a project exploring the use of gastronomic experiences as a value-added strategy for sportfishing tourism in the community of Bahía de los Ángeles. This project seeks to enhance sportfishing tourism in the region sustainably within the Bahía system. Similarly, by including and connecting other sectors, such as the restaurant and hotel industries, with sportfishing tourism, the aim is to increase the benefits that the community can gain from tourism-driven development.
